It is designed from the ground up to generate motion picture quality animation using RenderMan compliant rendering engines » PicPick 6. The GIMP 2. TwistedBrush Pro Studio Digital paint art software, powerful enough for the professional artist yet simple enough for the novice » NET 4. While it seems fairly thorough, I frankly don't see that there is a lot more here than can be found in Adobe's help system.

The reading is dry and mundane details of simple window operation are dragged before your eyes. Minimal examples and the absence of a tutorial structure make learning Flash from this book tough going. One person found this helpful. Reads much better than other textbooks but that could be that Flash is interesting and fun. This is a good book for an absolute beginner who wants to make simple motion graphics. I had trouble finding anything in here that wasn't in Flash 5 or MX.

For fellow monkey's that are considered beyond beginner the first half of this book will be fairly review. You probably will pick up some very helpful hints in the later half and that will be worth the read. Again I want to praise the layout. Fantastic job! Highly recommend it for people who consider themselves a beginner or lower intermediately skilled. I rate it: 4 out of 5 ninja stars and a bunch of bananas.

This book is nice as a quick, personal, desktop reference. I love that every page is in color, that truly makes a difference when you are trying to connect the book instructions with what is happening on your screen. But I was searching for a book to serve as a required text in an educational multimedia course and as a valuable reference after the course , and this title has no accompanying disk with real life examples that my students could use to follow and create Flash components; the entire book uses "for instance" and hypothetical examples.

The book is largely in color, provides step-by-step instsructions, and comes with a full CD of libraries and materials so students can finish each lesson with an actual product that they created. The book's format makes it a great how-to source. Each task, from drawing with the Pen tool to working with Flash components, is presented on two-page spreads containing step-by-step instructions and screenshots. New CS3 features, indicated by a "What's New" icon, are easy to find.

Best video editing software - create productions for film, TV or web! Transform your ideas into stunning visual stories - in minutes!

Create designs for websites, mobile apps, voice interfaces, games and more! Provides the tools necessary to build and deploy Adobe AIR applications. Easily transform a real-life picture into a photorealistic surface! There is about pages out of the book which contain new information, however, it is mixed in well and adds value, so you need to read it to find it. Because who knows exactly who the audience will be, and at what level? Anyway, I have again read this through and if you take the time to do this you will see all the new features and interface changes and explanations are there for the new CS3 Flash.

I now use this as my "refer to" book instead of the old one, so it is great having the "old" information there to! I don't need to look up two books. The authors of this book know what they are doing and can relay the information in an easy to understand and very interesting way, so even if you have read the previous book cover to cover you will still want to read this one the same.

It never hurts to go over old information as well; it is amazing how many things you remember that you forgot! So my comment here would be if you want to see and test the new FLASH interface out, then you will want to seriously consider this book.

I am glad I bought it and I will continue to get their products in the future, so I have to give it a 5 start for consistency and taking the time to include the "old" with the "new". The only complaints I could add is that it may have helped to use new examples, the ones they use are from the old book and it was a little boring on that level. Still it was a good refresher even if it was the same examples! Well worth getting, even if it is just to replace the Flash 8 book!

I recently finished reading this and enjoyed every minute of it, it is a very good book in how it explains how to do things in the visual way in Flash CS3 and using AS 1. But this is where it falls short. There is hardly any AS 3. If it was all AS 3. But, I find myself reverting to other sources of AS 3. As for the accompining AS 3. Look at the Lynda books.

Overal still worth having in your collection at the price. Very very usefull. Even if you know the basics you should buy this book to keep your ideas in order. Report abuse. Great book. Paint Fills mode 5. Paint Behind mode 5. Paint Selection mode 5.
